"And from the virtues of this month is that the good deeds are multiplied. It has been narrated that the optional deeds are equal in reward to the obligatory deeds, and the obligatory deeds have the reward of 70 obligatory deeds. And whoever provides food to break the fast of the fasting person shall have forgiveness for his sins and his neck freed from the Fire, and he will have the reward of the fasting person without decreasing the reward of the fasting person in the least.
Therefore, all of this good and all of these blessings and opportunities are provided for the Muslims by the entrance of this blessed month. Therefore, it is befitting that the Muslim greet this month with happiness, delight, and joy. And he should praise All?h when he reaches the month and seek All?h’s help in fasting and putting forth good deeds during the month."

About The Author
Shaykh Abdur Rahman Nasir as-Sa'di was one of the foremost prominent scholars from the Arabian Peninsula. He was born in the city of 'Unaizah, Saudi Arabia, in the year 1309 AH (1885 CE).
He began studying Islam at an early age. He excelled in his studies to such an extent that his fellow students asked him to tutor them; thus, not only was he a student, but he was also a teacher at the same time.
He studied various Islamic sciences and disciplines from some of the leading scholars of that area, as well as some famous visiting scholars. He authored many works, which are in print today.
Shaykh as-Sa'di passed away in the year 1376 AH (1956 CE) at the age of 69, and was buried in the city of 'Unaizah.
Abu Hurairah (May All?h be pleased with him) reported, the Prophet (May All?h elevate his rank & grant him peace) said, “A woman is married for four reasons: for her wealth, for her class, for her beauty or for her piety. Select the pious, may your hand be rubbed in the dust!” Related by Bukhari and Muslim.Explanation The purposes of people regarding marriage are different. Women are often married for these four reasons: for her wealth, class, beauty or piety. First: “For her wealth.” For example, an old woman is married for her big fortune because she will die sooner or later. If she is childless, he will take half of her wealth or all of it according to a weak point of view. Second: “For her class.” Tribes are different from each other regarding superiority and inferiority. A man who is inferior can marry from a tribe superior to his in order to upgrade himself. So, people will say that he married this one to upgrade himself and his children. Third: “For her beauty.” The beautiful woman is married in spite of her low class and being penniless. Fourth: “For her religion.” This refers to the religious woman, especially a knowledgeable one. The Muslim has to marry a woman who helps him to obey All?h. The religious woman helps her husband to obey All?h and she is obedient to her husband. Some religious women can choose another wife for her husband if she notices his desire for her. If she is not religious, she will make troubles if her husband has dreamt of marrying another woman. A religious woman is an honest one. When her husband is absent, she will not betray him. Also, she will care for his wealth, children and family. The Prophet (May All?h elevate his rank & grant him peace) said, “Select the pious,” meaning to look upon her as a prize you want to win.

“The celebrations and holidays of the disbelievers are countless and various, and it is not upon the Muslim to seek them out or to know them; it suffices [the Muslim] to know that any of their actions, days [of celebration], or places [of observance], that the reason behind that action and glorification of that place or time originated from them. Even if one does not know whether or not it has originated from them, it suffices the Muslim knowing that it has no basis in the Religion of Islam, and the very least that could be said of it is that it is from the innovated matters.” – Iqtida’ al-Sirat al-Mustaqim

Shaykh Salih al-Fawzan said: “The intent behind this book is to lay down principles and guidelines which the believer can adhere to throughout his [or her life so that they can be upon the ?irat al-Mustaqim (i.e. the straight path), and be distant from the path of those who earned the anger of Allah and those who went astray.”
